Clos des Jacobins is located at the entrance to the medieval village of Saint-Émilion, in the heart of the appellation’s most important terroirs. The name refers to the Dominican monks (“Jacobins”) who lived here and used the estate to produce wine and welcome pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela.
Since the 17th century, the vineyard has covered 8.3 hectares in a single contiguous block, surrounding the estate’s cellars. The vines are situated at the foot of the Saint-Émilion hill, where clay and limestone soils meet runoff from the plateau above. This unique location and southern exposure yield an early-ripening, generous, and balanced expression of the terroir.
Clos des Jacobins has been recognized as a Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion since the first classification in 1954.
