On the left bank of the Rhône River, between Orange and Avignon, you will find perhaps the most notable French wine town, Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The Crous St. Martin estate is located in the northeastern part of this appellation. Its history begins in 1879 with the restoration of the cross (crous) of St. Martin, placed by monks to guide the way to Châteauneuf, the church's sale of this possession among others, and the fantastic vintage year 1879.
The soil composition is varied, including sand, marl, limestone sandstone, and fine clay. Part of the vineyard's topsoil is covered with pebbles, originating from the river. These “galets” formed during the ice age provide optimal drainage and retain solar heat, releasing it at night. This soil composition contributes to finesse and elegance.
This white wine is composed of three grape varieties, namely: Grenache 35%, Roussanne 30%, and Clairette 35%.
A light golden color for this white Châteauneuf du Pape, beautiful fresh fruit perfume. Elegant and structured, enormously balanced and will entice your taste buds.
It pairs excellently with shellfish and seafood dishes. Also a good match with dishes of white meat and tame poultry.
The ideal serving temperature is between 8 and 10°C.
