This Chenin Blanc comes from a historic, old vineyard planted in 1976, certified as a Heritage Vineyard. The wine is produced with care and craftsmanship, making it a beautiful example of the Stellenbosch region. Bellevue Wine Estate, a family business with over 200 years of wine heritage, proudly pioneered one of South Africa's first commercial Pinotage plantings. Rooted in Stellenbosch's rich wine history, they create terroir-driven wines with minimal intervention, where each bottle tells a story. Founded on October 5, 1701, as ‘Houd den Mond’, the land was granted by Cape Governor Willem Adriaan van der Stel to blacksmith Christoffel Groenewald. On December 6, 1861, Bellevue was purchased by Dirk Cloete Morkel; the Morkel family owned the estate for 150 years before it passed to the Neethling family. In 1959, P.K. Morkel entered his Pinotage wine in the Cape Wine Show, then South Africa's leading wine competition, and won the coveted General Smuts Trophy, announcing P.K. as South Africa's new 'king of wine.' With approximately 152 hectares of vineyards in various locations, winemaker Wilhelm Kritzinger can select the best grapes to produce the excellent wines for which Bellevue Wine Estate is known.
