The 2013 vintage of the Comtes Blanc de Blancs is the result of an exceptional season in Taittinger's vineyards, located in the prestigious Grand Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs. This region, with chalky soils, gives the Chardonnay grapes a distinctive mineral strength and finesse.

For this cuvée, only the first pressing, the “cuvée,” is used — the most refined juice to ensure purity and elegance.

A small part (about 5%) of the wine is aged briefly in new oak barrels (four months) to add subtle roasted, toasty nuances without suppressing freshness.

After barrel aging, the wine is placed in silence and rest, 18 meters underground in chalk cellars, on its own lees to mature slowly. For the 2013 vintage, this aging was notably long: it underwent approximately 10 years on its lees before disgorgement (the removal of yeast sediment from the Champagne).

It was only released in April 2023 (disgorgement), with its dosage (9 g/l) maintaining the balance between freshness and complexity.

This extended maturation is no luxury: it allows the wine to develop complex layers — aromas of brioche, toast, nuts, and pastries — and ensures a mousse that is extremely fine and elegant. At the same time, the typical clarity and freshness of the Chardonnay remain, making the wine both refined and lively.
