Mercurey 1er-cru’s hebben vaak een stevige maar verfijnde structuur.
Tannines & zuurgraad: medium tot stevig tannine-profiel met frisse tot medium-plus zuurgraad — genoeg zuren om te rijpen maar ook aangenaam jong te drinken na het openstaan. wijngaarden hadden lokaal sterke variatie in rijpheid door wisselvallig weer.
