The northern Italian province of Verona, with the Veneto region, is famous for producing quality wines. This red wine, Valpolicella, comes from the beautiful Mezzane di Sotto valley, located in the eastern part of the province of Verona. This valley is known for its abundance of streams and fertile soils. The winery “Corte Guala” is located in the municipality of San Martino Buon Albergo, which lies 4 km southeast of the city of Verona. It is a young and dynamic company aiming to convey passion for local products.

Corte Guala Valpolicella is a blend of 3 grape varieties: Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara. The vines are planted on a limestone-rich soil with traces of red clay and iron, which contribute to a wine with distinctive characteristics. The perfectly ripe and healthy grape clusters are harvested late (early September) and handpicked to dry for 7 days on special mats in a well-ventilated space. The extract-rich grapes, having lost part of their original weight, are then pressed. Vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks, after which the young wine must age for several months.

The result is a refined, elegant wine with hints of red fruit, cherries and spices. The finish is fruity and nicely rounded.

This red wine pairs excellently with various Italian dishes such as pasta, spaghetti trays and pizzas but also goes very well with grilled or roasted meats, tame poultry and cheese platters.

Serve this wine at around 17°C.
