Located west of the city of Cahors, just outside Puy l’Evèque, Château La Reyne sits in the valley of the Lot River. The Cahors wine region has a long history dating back to around the beginning of our era. Wines with the Cahors appellation are exclusively red and are mainly produced with one grape variety in the lead: cot, also called auxerrois, or as many may recognize it, malbec.

The very favorable climate of the region—with wet springs, warm summers, and a dry autumn—ensures optimal grape development. The vineyards in Cahors are influenced by both the warm currents of the Mediterranean Sea and the cooler air from the Atlantic Ocean. On the stony, limestone-rich soil, the vines of the characteristic varieties cot and tannat thrive optimally. This blend results in a wine with a full, powerful taste.

The rich aromas of black and red fruits such as blueberries, cherries, raspberries, and currants characterize this wine. Especially in the nose, the oak aging in classic barriques is well reflected. In short, a very powerful and characteristic wine.

This Château La Reyne Le Prestige pairs remarkably well with various meat dishes, roasts, and poultry. Furthermore, it pairs excellently with forest mushrooms.

The ideal serving temperature is around 16 - 18°C.
