Château Cantemerle is located in the southern part of Haut-Médoc roughly where the Dordogne and Garonne rivers merge into the Gironde. The château makes a splendid, almost fairy-tale impression and can be reached via a no less than 700-meter-long driveway shaded by tall trees.
On a vineyard surface of 87ha, there are vines planted with 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot. These varieties thrive excellently on the local soil of pebbles and gravel with a slightly calcareous subsoil. The grapes from vines averaging 35 years old are handpicked, ensuring only ripe and sound grapes are selected. Fermentation takes place at 26 - 28°C, after which the young wine matures for a period of 12 months in French oak barrels.
The result is a powerful, classic wine with great longevity. There is perfect harmony between color, aroma, taste, and finish.
This Château Cantemerle forms an ideal pairing with meat and poultry. It also pairs beautifully with a fine cheese platter.
Serving temperature is around 18°C.
